Am I Pregnant?
If you have been sexually active and your period is late or have other pregnancy symptoms, you might be pregnant. Start with free, confidential pregnancy testing at Desert Rose Women’s Resource Center.
Although no pregnancy test is 100% accurate, ours are laboratory-quality and rated 99% accurate. Results are available within 3 to 5 minutes after testing a urine sample.
How Does a Pregnancy Test Work?
When a woman becomes pregnant, her body starts producing the pregnancy hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone builds right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of a woman’s uterus. If the test detects hCG in her urine, she’s pregnant.
What If I’ve Already Taken a Home Pregnancy Test?
At-home pregnancy tests are reliable. According to the Mayo Clinic, some over-the-counter tests are more sensitive than others. The more sensitive the test, the earlier you can take it.
Some women take the at-home tests too early or don’t completely follow directions. If you got a positive at-home pregnancy test result, you might be wondering if you got the correct results. Get results you can trust with a free, confidential pregnancy test from Desert Rose Women’s Resource Center.
A Positive Result Doesn’t Necessarily Mean You’re Pregnant
Up to 20% of known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage. The amount may be higher because many women miscarry before realizing they’re pregnant. Your body needs time to expel the pregnancy hormones, creating the possibility for a positive pregnancy test result after a miscarriage.
What Do I Do Next?
To determine if you have miscarried, you need an ultrasound exam. Ultrasound reveals how long you’ve been pregnant, if you’ve miscarried or have a viable (growing) pregnancy, and the location of your pregnancy.
At Desert Rose Women’s Resource Center, we provide free limited obstetric ultrasounds for women who qualify after receiving a positive result on our pregnancy test. In addition to taking a pregnancy test, you will have the opportunity to meet with a Desert Rose Women’s Resource Center Client Advocate to talk about your pregnancy options.
